Well 2011 has been quite an eventful year. New clients, new projects, and yet another new office! In the four and a half years of Snap Designs existence I have now occupied 4 different offices. I have come full circle and now find myself back in Morden, Surrey, on the exact site I used to work on with Elucid8.

During 2011 Wellington Press, the printers who housed my previous office, merged with another printing company, relocating to Hersham. Despite not being on site I continue to do some work for them.

What was new in 2011

Over the course of the year I have been involved in a number of new projects and picked up a few new clients. Some of the projects I have particularly enjoyed working on include:

As well as new projects a lot of the year has been taken up with repeat work. It is very satisfying to work on projects over a number of years. Repeat work gives a designer the opportunity to develop and enhance the look and feel of the materials, be it a newsletter, magazine or something similar.

I continue to update a few websites that were developed before I started using WordPress. These include www.dramabygrace.co.uk, www.leonard-construction.co.uk and www.trenthaminvest.co.uk.

On the horizon

I already have a number of projects lined up for the new year. One of the most important ones will be to redesign this website! As well as wanting to give the site a new look, I also need to be able to better communicate the services I am able to offer. Since I built this site I have gained valuable experience and developed some new skills which can help existing (and potential) customers communicate better online and in print.

As always if Snap Designs can help you and your business make a good impression online and in print please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

I recently got to redesign a site that first made it’s appearance on the internet in my early days as a web designer. A lot has happened in the years since then and I have learnt a lot (as has been documented on this site).

The Capriccio String Quartet website has been built on WordPress, meaning they have the ability to add and/or delete content. The site includes five audio tracks the quartet recorded that can be streamed and/or downloaded. The site’s colour scheme is taken from the cut out picture of the quartet that appears at the top of each page.

The site is a vast improvement on the previous offering and comes closer to reflecting the professionalism of the quartet.

I would like to wish all my clients (and those of you who I haven’t had the pleasure of working with but stop by this website) a very merry Christmas and a happy new year!

Unlike the past two years the new year won’t start with an office move (unless something unforeseen happens!) but it promises to be a busy start. I have a number of projects lined up – some with brand new clients! The end of this year has seen the design and development of some new websites and the new year will start with more of the same.

As always if Snap Designs can help you and your business make a good impression online and in print please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

I really can’t believe it’s been 10 months since my last post – and this from someone who strongly advises clients not to incorporate a blog or news section in their websites unless they are going to be disciplined and post regularly. What a hypocrite! Read the rest of this entry »

It’s nearly a year since this site was launched. Even though I have been designing websites since 2001 it was the first one I built using WordPress.

The other day I was going through my bookmarked sites when I came across a site I had designed a number of years ago.

If I am honest the site isn’t very good. If I am brutally honest I might even say it is rubbish. Read the rest of this entry »

The World Wide Web is full of websites. Big ones, small ones. Good ones, bad ones. Fancy ones, plain ones.

For many businesses they are an important tool in communicating information, advertising services and selling products. In fact you would be hard pushed to find a business that doesn’t have a website. Read the rest of this entry »
